Exercice 1

Centre de gravité d’un triangle et vecteurs

Moyen

\(ABC\) est un triangle et \(G\) son centre de gravité, c’est-à-dire le point tel que :

\[\overrightarrow{GA} + \overrightarrow{GB} + \overrightarrow{GC} = \vec{0}\]

Soit \(I\) le milieu du segment \([AB]\). Montrer que :

1) \(\overrightarrow{GA} + \overrightarrow{GB} = 2\overrightarrow{GI}\) ;

2) \(\overrightarrow{IC} = 3\overrightarrow{IG}\).

Afficher la correctionMasquer la correction

1) On fait apparaître le point \(I\) :

\[\begin{aligned} &\overrightarrow{GA} + \overrightarrow{GB} \\ &= (\overrightarrow{GI} + \overrightarrow{IA}) + (\overrightarrow{GI} + \overrightarrow{IB}) \\ &= 2\overrightarrow{GI} + (\overrightarrow{IA} + \overrightarrow{IB}) \\ &= 2\overrightarrow{GI} \end{aligned}\]

car \(I\) est le milieu de \([AB]\), donc \(\overrightarrow{IA} + \overrightarrow{IB} = \vec{0}\).

2) On a \(\overrightarrow{GA} + \overrightarrow{GB} + \overrightarrow{GC} = \vec{0}\) et \(\overrightarrow{GA} + \overrightarrow{GB} = 2\overrightarrow{GI}\), donc \(2\overrightarrow{GI} + \overrightarrow{GC} = \vec{0}\), c’est-à-dire :

\[\overrightarrow{GC} = -2\overrightarrow{GI} = 2\overrightarrow{IG}\]

Par suite :

\[\begin{aligned} \overrightarrow{IC} &= \overrightarrow{IG} + \overrightarrow{GC} \\ &= \overrightarrow{IG} + 2\overrightarrow{IG} \\ &= 3\overrightarrow{IG} \end{aligned}\]

Remarque : le point \(G\) est sur la médiane \([CI]\), au tiers de celle-ci à partir de \(I\).
